Tampa, FL (date) -  Hillel Academy, Tampa Bays premier community day school, is proud to announce an expansion of their MakerLab middle school curriculum to include the creation of a Flight School for the schools new aerial photography drone.  The Hillel Academy drone is a Phantom DJI Vision 2 Plus manufacturered by DJI.

Under the direction of IT teacher Michael Gamson, groups of 4 students at a time attend Flight School in order to learn to assemble the drone, perform a series of pre-flight procedures and fly the drone at incrementally higher altitudes. They begin by flying the drone as low as 10 feet above the ground and advance to flying it more than 50 feet high.  They fly the drone further and further away in order to capture the perfect 360 degree video.  After mastering the process, each student will take a drone certification test.  As the students become certified, others will be invited to train on the drones operation.

Hillel Academy celebrated the holiday of Sukkot this year in a new and different way.  Photographs of the sukkah under construction were taken by Hillel Academys new aerial photography drone which has a high performance camera that takes crystal clear video.
