Tampa, FL (Mon., May 4, 2015) - On Mon., May 4, 2015, the Hillel Academy student body began a two-week fundraising effort to help the victims of the earthquake in Nepal. The tragedy in Nepal offers an opportunity to teach Hillel Academy students about showing empathy towards others no matter their nationality or religion. In addition to raising funds, the students will study the Jewish values of helping others, performing acts of kindness and humanitarian aid. They will also learn about the geography of Hillel Academy parent, Yoav Rappaport, is working for International Medical Corps, doing GIS mapping work to help relief workers reach affected areas. His team has been working in Nepal since the night of the earthquake. He will share valuable information including first hand stories with Hillel Academy students.
Donations raised by Tampa Bay’s premier community day school during the two-week period will be given to International Medical Corps.
