Welcome to Hillel Academy!
I have always believed that exceptional schools are built on two equally important foundations: educational excellence and a genuine sense of belonging. When children feel known, teachers feel valued, and families trust the people guiding their children, extraordinary things become possible.
Hillel Academy has been part of my life since 2004, and leading this remarkable community is both a privilege and a joy. Having experienced Hillel as an educator, school leader, and parent, I know firsthand what makes this school special: the relationships we build, the opportunities we create, and the genuine commitment to helping every child thrive.
At heart, I am an educator. I love watching children make discoveries, ask unexpected questions, tackle difficult challenges, and experience that wonderful moment when something finally clicks. My background in science education, curriculum development, and teacher leadership has shaped my belief that learning should be intellectually challenging, engaging, and filled with opportunities for curiosity and exploration.
I also believe that understanding children is just as important as understanding what we teach them. Every child brings a unique combination of strengths, interests, experiences, and needs into the classroom. Our responsibility as educators is to recognize those differences, build meaningful relationships, and create environments where children feel confident taking risks, making mistakes, and growing.
That same philosophy guides how I lead. Exceptional schools depend on exceptional teachers, and I believe deeply in supporting, trusting, and empowering educators to do their very best work. When a school has a strong, healthy culture, students, teachers, and families all benefit.
At Hillel, our commitment to academic excellence is inseparable from our Jewish identity and values. We cultivate students who are intellectually curious, compassionate, proud of their heritage, connected to Israel and the Jewish people, and prepared to navigate an increasingly complex world with confidence and integrity.
What I treasure most about Hillel is that our students are truly known. We celebrate their accomplishments, encourage their individuality, challenge them to reach higher, and support them through the moments that matter.
I invite you to visit our campus, meet our wonderful educators, and experience the warmth, energy, and purposeful learning that define our community.
I look forward to welcoming you to Hillel Academy.
Warmly,
Amy Basham
