National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a nationally recognized program for middle school students who demonstrate high standards in academics, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. To be eligible for the Hillel Academy Chapter, 8th-grade students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, complete at least 15 service hours (combining both community and school-based service), participate in the NJHS group service project, and adhere to behavior expectations. Students can begin earning their individual service hours as early as 7th grade. All requirements and expectations are set by the National Junior Honor Society, and Hillel Academy must follow NJHS guidelines to remain a chapter in good standing.
Joining the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a prestigious honor that recognizes your academic success, strong leadership, service, and citizenship skills. Being a member allows you to serve as a role model to other students at Hillel Academy, demonstrating the importance of excellence both inside and outside the classroom. NJHS also provides valuable preparation for high school by helping you develop responsibility, maintain commitments, and understand the process of logging community service hours. Additionally, graduating from Hillel Academy in good standing with NJHS is an achievement that will be noted on your diploma and transcript, which can be beneficial for future opportunities. Many students also choose to include their NJHS membership on resumes and applications for clubs, jobs, schools, and officer positions, further highlighting their dedication and accomplishments. Application Process
Becoming a member is completely voluntary. While some members find it to be a meaningful experience, some students choose not to. It is a time commitment and some requirements and expectations need to be followed. Whether or not a student chooses to join is up to that student. If a student chooses not to join, it will not reflect poorly on them at school.
