Primary

The Primary Division at Hillel Academy consists of transitional kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade.

From the earliest ages, our students are engaged in developing a love of learning.  Language arts, social studies, math and science are all part of the curriculum, enhanced by art, music, library, computers and physical education.  The transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students receive one formal period a day of Jewish studies, and this increases by an additional period in first grade.

At Hillel, we believe in individualizing programs to the needs of our students and we integrate our curriculum on many

levels.  Reading and math groups are the norm for the Primary Division, with many of Hillel students entering first grade with solid reading skills. When first grade is completed, Hillel students are independent readers and writers. In addition, towards the end of first grade, most students are able to read Hebrew.

We utilize the Singapore Math curriculum in order to best prepare our young students.  The social studies and science programs are thematic, and encourage children to ask questions and begin to understand how many aspects of their world are connected.

A full Primary curriculum is available for your review when you visit the school.
